Connell Brothers Ltd has officially begun the transformation of Boggart Hill, clearing the way for a major affordable housing boost in Leeds.

Appointed as the Principal Contractor by Leeds City Council, the Salford-based firm is now on-site at Kingsdale Court. The team is tasked with the systematic removal of eight medium-rise blocks that have long blighted the local landscape.

Specialist Expertise on Site

Following their successful work on the Highways towers in Killingbeck, Connell Brothers brings proven expertise in complex urban demolition to this Seacroft project. Key highlights of their current operation include:

  • Comprehensive Site Clearance: Safely sweeping away 88 dilapidated flats and associated structures.

  • Safety First: Utilising specialised equipment to manage the demolition within a high-priority residential neighbourhood, ensuring minimal disruption to the local community.

  • Safety Excellence: The firm recently celebrated 22 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards, a testament to the safety standards they are maintaining on the Boggart Hill site.

Paving the Way for 2026

The demolition, scheduled for completion in 2026, is the critical first step in the council’s Council Housing Growth Programme (CHGP). Once Connell Brothers concludes the clearance, the site will be handed over for the construction of energy-efficient, high-quality council homes.

“The work currently taking place is a great example of the difference this approach can make,” noted Councillor Mary Harland, following a visit to see the Connell Brothers team in action.
