Connell Brothers has been selected by Salford City Council for the demolition of Charles House, a vacant 35,000 sq ft office building located at the corner of Albert Street and John William Street.
This appointment follows our ongoing work clearing a significant section of the Eccles Shopping Centre as part of Salford City Council’s wider regeneration masterplan. Work on the Charles House site is scheduled to begin in November once existing telecommunications leases conclude.
“The demolition of Charles House will mark another significant and visible step forward in the regeneration of Eccles town centre… The site is an important part of the wider Eccles masterplan and, alongside the work already taking place across the town centre, we are continuing to make real progress towards creating a revitalised Eccles for residents, businesses and visitors.”
— Councillor Mike McCusker, Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Planning, Transport, Sustainable Development and Regeneration at Salford City Council
The overall regeneration effort, being developed alongside Muse, aims to bring nearly 1,300 homes to the area alongside an overhaul of Church Street to support independent businesses.
