MECD PROJECT -MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE

TAMESIDE COURT - 12 STOREY TOWER BLOCK

Connell Brothers Limited (CBL) were appointed by Peak Valley Housing Association (PVHA) to carry out the extensive asbestos removal, demolition, slab and foundation removal of the 12 Storey Tameside Court tower block, and the adjoining 4 Storey “Four in Hand” Public House. The buildings were of reinforced concrete frame construction with brick infill. The works also involved service disconnection and Landscaping works.

MABEL TYLECOTE PROJECT - MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE

Connell Brothers were appointed by Manchester Metropolitan University to carry out the complex demolition of the Mable Tylecote building on Oxford Road, Manchester. The project required the removal of asbestos materials present throughout the structure and the demolition of the Mable Tylecote building.

ROWLANDSWAY HOUSE - WYTHENSHAWE

Following a stringent pre-qualification process and a successful tender submission, Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed to carry out the asbestos removal and demolition of the former major IT base for oil multi-national Shell (UK) Ltd. The 6.5-acre complex was located at the corner of Rowlandsway and Simonsway in Wythenshawe South Manchester.

BELLE VUE LEISURE CENTRE - MANCHESTER

Connell Brothers were appointed to carry out the demolition of an office block at the front of a leisure complex on Pink bank lane in Manchester. The building consisted of a four-story steel-framed building with block and beam flooring and composite cladding to the external walls.

SANDWELL COLLEGE - WEST BROMWICH

Connell Brothers were appointed by the HCA to carry out the demolition of Sandwell College, West Bromwich. The site comprised of a number of buildings including a 9 storey tower block, 2 storey teaching blocks and a number of single-storey buildings. A number of buildings also contained basements.

CAR PARK & TOWER - ADJACENT TO METROLINK/TRAM

Connell Brothers were appointed by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council to carry out the demolition of the town centre mutli-storey car park and bus station together with the demolition of the 14 storey Municipal Offices and the associated link bridges leading to the adjacent shopping centre.

TELEGRAPH HOUSE - ROCHDALE

Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough City Council to demolish the redundant six storey office block know as Telegraph House located opposite the bus station and multi-storey car park and a 14 storey tower block, known as the “Black Box”, previously demolished by Connell Brothers.

KINTHORPE AND LAXTHORPE HIGH RISE TOWER BLOCKS - HULL

Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed by Kingston Upon Hull City Council to carry out the demolition of two 10 storey high tower blocks in close proximity to a housing estate. The flats comprised a reinforced concrete frame with external infill “no-fines” type concrete.

HARRABY COLLEGE - CARLISLE

Following a stringent pre-qualification process and a successful tender submission, Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed to carry out the asbestos removal and demolition of the former Harraby College, Carlisle. The site comprised a number of buildings, two of which were to be retained.

SNOW HILL - WOLVERHAMPTON

Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed by Wolverhampton City Council to initially demolish number 42 – 50 Snow Hill and construct a new car park. During the course of the works, we were awarded the contract to demolish 50a – 51 Snow Hill and extend the car park.

SANDFIELD CENTRE - NOTTINGHAM

Connell Brothers were appointed as demolition contractors for the demolition of the Sandfield Centre, in a predominantly residential area in the centre of Nottingham, which comprised of a mixture of single and two-storey buildings, including traditional construction, Clasp Mark 6 buildings and a steel-framed garage building. A large amount of asbestos containing materials were present throughout the buildings and in below ground service ducts.

THE INDOOR MARKET - LEICESTER

Connell Brothers were appointed by Leicester city Council to carry out the demolition of the former indoor market located within the city centre. The 6 storey building was constructed against the Grade II listed Molly O’Grady’s Public House and in very close proximity to the Grade II listed Corn Exchange (now a public house).

DAWSON HOUSE - WARRINGTON

Following a stringent pre-qualification process and a successful tender submission, Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed to carry out the asbestos removal and demolition of a number of buildings at United Utilities main offices in Warrington.

BURSLEM CAMPUS - STOKE

Following a stringent pre-qualification process and a successful tender submission, Connell Brothers Ltd (CBL) were appointed to carry out the asbestos removal and demolition of a number of buildings at United Utilities main offices in Warrington.
